Performance

An important aspect of Merle Thordis’ artistic practice is the connection between music and movement—the expression, the sound, the body. In Merle’s performances, voice, rhythm, and space merge into vivid images that engage with both the personal and the political.
Merle performs regularly both solo and in groups, develops their own concepts, and composes pieces in which they engages with social and political themes.
In doing so, they create works that transcend the boundaries between music, dance, and visual art – performances, installations, and video projects that pose questions, open up spaces, and make emotion tangible.'
Their projects led to collaborations with the REH Halle Berlin, the 48-Stunden Neukölln festival, and an artist residency in Sweden (RUD AIR). Their current work is titled “Wounds”—a project set to be released soon that once again explores the profound connection between sound, movement, and vulnerability.

Gender equality in the art world is unfortunately still not a given, especially when it comes to power. Therefore, let's work together to overcome the inequalities in power structures, influence, work and merit.
Let's fight together against the underrepresentation and discrimination of FLINTA*/Black and People of Color in the art world and ensure the dissolution of male dominance!
